The Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers (CARA) of Mineo is designed to give hospitality to non-EU citizens who have applied for international protection by the competent bodies.



Once arrived at the CARA, after completing the procedure for recognition and identification, will be awarded a badge that will allow access to all services within the Reception Centre.

Then there will be an examination and will be given a kit containing all the clothing and hygiene products needed for the period of stay.

Moreover, will be assigned a bed in one of the units we have in the Centre.

The assignment of the bed provides the supply of 2 sheets, 1 pillow, 1 or more blankets, depending of the season.

Those belonging to a family unit must communicate that to be placed in the same apartment. We guarantee the separation of rooms beetween men and women.

It is' absolutely forbidden to change the assigned accommodation unless only after prior notification and permission of the Management Office.

Management office

The direction of C.A.R.A. Mineo cooperate with institutions who works in the immigration sectors: interior ministry, prefecture, consortium of municipalities, police headquarters (immigration office and public securities), territorial commission for asylum seekers, CRI, Municipalities, International Organizations like (UNHCR, I.O.M., SAVE THE CHILDREN, MSF,… etc), professional operators inside the center and national, regional, provincial and communal areas.

Inside the center, the Direction represent the guests and the operators. it has a coordination role for all activities for guest’s wellness, for peaceful cohabitation, for facilitation of services by guaranteeing the principles of equality.

Further on, the Direction resolve all problems which can not be resolve by the ordinary administration and management.



The service is open to the Guest from 10 am to 01 pm and from 03 pm to 06 pm to print new badges, badge checkpoint.


Info Point Service 1041 A 

Open from Monday to Saturday 10 am to 01 pm and 03 pm 06 pm.

  • Translation and cultural mediatore. Their job is to facilitate communication and comprehension, both linguistically and culturally between the user and the operators of the service. They are available everyday for 24 hours.
  • Request for Italian language school – from Monday to Friday for registration. The lessons have the following hours in building Area 3 P 3 (Pavilion C) and building at the back of the Canteen: 09 am – 12 pm / 03 pm – 06 pm
  • Request of accommodation maintenance from Monday to Saturday 10 am to 12 pm
  • House request SPRAR from Monday to Friday
  • Filling and paying in slip – Monday and Thursday from 03 pm to 05 pm
  • Departure booking – Wednesday from 10 am to 12 am
  • Western Union Tuesday and Thursday only at 10 am (booking) and at 03 pm (departure).
  • Court transfer for audience: from Monday to Friday.
  • Post delivery: Tuesday and Friday from 04 pm to 05 pm
  • Legal service from Monday to Saturday (10 am – 06 pm). The aim of the service id to help the Guests in the resolution of their legal problems (denials, documents interpretation). Territorial Commission preparation by individual interviews. Cases concerning Dublin Convention.
  • Psychological service from Monday to Friday (10 am – 06 pm). The aim of the service is to sustain people in a condition of psychological problems in order to promote their wellness. The service is guaranteed for minors, their families, victim women of violence, people with strong traumas. 
  • Social service from Monday to Friday (10 am – 06 pm). The aim of the service is to activate a helping system about individual and collective problems ( sprar, birth certificate, family reunification, assistance for pregnant women, school registration for minors …). 

Cara Mamma – building 1031 C. 

Distribution of hygiene kit and material for children (To be communicated through public notices), Request for clothes and shoes for children (Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.); Children’s canteen service: Every day from 08 am to 09.30 am (breakfast) from 12 pm to 01.30 pm (lunch), from 06 pm to 07.30 pm (diner).

Alphabet lessons for children–building 1031 C 

Italian language class for beginners; from Monday to Friday 03 pm – 05 pm.

Afterschool – building 1031 C

Children assistance for the development of the afternoon activities. From Monday to Friday 03 p.m. – 06 p.m. On Saturday 09 a.m. – 01 p.m.

Ludoteca – Area 2 P2

Formative and entertaining activities for children (From Monday to Friday 03 p.m. – 06 p.m.).

Infancy service

Psychomotor laboratory for mothers and their children (Monday and Wednesday 10 a.m. – 11.30 a.m.).

Football club 

Football school. For registration, from Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. – 12 a.m. at the building 1039 D. For training, from Monday to Thursday 03 p.m. – 06 p.m.

Job Centre – building 1039 D

Registration: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Balance of competence: from Monday to Friday 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Last interview and c.v. delivery: from Monday to Thursday 09.30 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 02.30 p.m. – 05 p.m. 

Internet point – building 1041 B

From Monday to Friday 02 p.m. 08 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 10.30 a.m. – 08 p.m.


Every day €2,50 will be charged on your personal account in order to buy cigarettes, telephone cards, stamps, dictionaries, body creams, ticket restaurant etc. (Monday to Friday 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. for women and families; Monday to Friday 03 p.m.. – 05.30 p.m. only for men).


Inside the store it is possible to change or integrate clothes already given during the Hospitality, within 5 days from the entry date in this centre. Besides, it is possible to receive bed kit (sheets and pillowcases). From Monday to Friday 09 a.m. – 12 p.m. 


The canteen service is available every day according to the following hours: Breakfast 07 a.m. to 09 a.m. Lunch 12 p.m. to 02 p.m. Diner 06 p.m. to 08 p.m. In order to collect your meal, it is strictly necessary to show your personal badge. Will be given only one meal for everyone in line and if found more badges with the guest will be taken away and subjected for control. Out of the hours expected will not be possible to receive the meal.

Canteen family service – Building 1031 D

Breakfast 07 a.m. – 09 a.m. Lunch 12 p.m. – 14 p.m. Diner 06 p.m. – 08 p.m.

Medical ambulatory – 1034 C

The ambulatory is open regularly according to the following hours: Morning 09 a.m. – 12 p.m. Afternoon 16 p.m. – 07 p.m. The first aid is always available for emergency situation. 

Bus service from this centre to Mineo

Booking at the gate from Monday to Saturday 03 p.m. – 04 p.m. Departures: from Monday to Thursday 09 a.m. – 12 p.m. (50 seats max); Friday only 09 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (100 seats max).

Driver service

This service is available just for guests’ transfer to Hospital, School and handling.

Getting out the centre

The guests can go out only from 08 a.m. to 08 p.m. For a longer period, it is necessary to present a request to the Director by 10 days before leaving the centre. Otherwise, the guest will be automatically discharged from the centre. The guest must keep the badge inside and outside the centre. If the guest decide to leave the centre, it is necessary to leave the badge at the Administration.
